We have learnt it turning on the TV this morning, Yves Saint Laurent has died at 11:30 pm, at the age of 71, last night in Paris (France), six years after having presented his last Haute Couture runway show.

Once again, FashionReporters, has written and published at once a news article, which, among the others, stands out as a very sensitive and sensible way to give the bad news. Katoucha’s Body found… Family asking for new Autopsy

In a post earlier today, FashionReporters’ News is revealing that, after the discovery of Katoucha’s corpse in Paris on February 28, the police concluded that it was an accident to cause her death. However, the late supermodel’s family is having doubts about the occasion which caused her death and has asked one of France’s most famous lawyers to file for a further inquiry by a judge.

Roland Dumas, who has accepted to represent the family, is reported to have said: “They told me that Katoucha’s face was intact, which is troubling after nearly a month in the water. Katoucha’s father has many questions about the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death”. “An investigating magistrate will automatically be designated on Monday,” Mr Dumas added. [more]

Ramosport’s New Creative Director : Julien Fournié

Ramosport has been creating since 1905 outerwear clothing in the spirit of casual luxury.
The house’s creations do ally the know-how specific to outerwear and the innovative Parisian creative spirit. Retailing in 400 exclusive shops, plus at Le Printemps, Neiman Marcus…. Ramosport also has its own boutiques in Paris. The company recently opened a flagship store in Beijing (China).

The management of Ramosport has announced during Paris Fashion Week that Julien Fournié , one of Fashionmafia’s favorite fashion designers, has been named the company’s Creative Director. He is now the head designer for all Ramosport womenswear, menswear and accessories collections.

Creative Director of Torrente Haute Couture until 2004, Julien Fournié has since then worked as far as Asia, where he was advising several brands producing womenswear, and then back in France for some luxury houses specializing in fashion accessories. Before he joined Torrente, Julien Fournié had also collaborated as a designer for womenswear with several Parisian big names including Jean-Paul Gaultier and Claude Montana.

«Julien Fournié represents the alliance between an indispensable knowledge of luxury ready-to-wear, fashion accessories and an abundant creativity », says Nicoletta Giadrossi, Ramosport’s CEO.

The very first collection for Ramosport signed by the French designer should be shown for the Spring-Summer 2009 season, during the next Paris Fashion Weeks (starting in June for menswear).

«Time has come now for Ramosport to re-establish more clearly its designer’s house identity, on the same track which has given our brand its full brilliance with designers such as Anne-Marie Beretta, Hussein Chalayan or Jean Colonna,” explains Nicoletta Giadrossi in the press release. “We are certain that Julien Fournié is going to give our brand a new edge in this tradition of creative design.”

Fashion Photographers To Respect Runway Show Copyright!

In a post published today, FashionReporters, reveals that, the last judgement of the French Supreme Court has rejected the appeal that some photographers had made againts the parties suing them -Chanel, Dior, Vuitton, Loewe, Gaultier and Hermes- because they had distributed the photos that they were allowed to make in 2003 at Paris Fashion Week to a website which was not on their list!

This seems like a real “punishment” of the internet fashion media, being disregarded by the French Federation of Couture, at a time when New York Fashion Week is actually giving the right to journaists to use photos produced by them free of any form of copyright.

The issue is big and could well endanger the future media coverage of designers showing in Paris. [more]

Halston, a Rebirth or a Funeral Collection at New York Fashion Week?

We were so surprised to see the video of the Halston Fall-Winter 2008/2009 [here] . Where is the American brand’s DNA? If Marco Zanini was so much looking for “modernity”, if he was so much trying to express minimalism, after beingDonatella Versace’s assitant for a quite some time, he should have started his very own line, but not take the creative helm at Halston. Even Liza Minelli, sitting front row and called to play her part of “I knew Halston very well and I admire the new designer…” couldn’t help but say: ” Maybe Halston would have put a little more jewellery…” Surely, a collection which, despite all the Hollywood fuss around it, was a deception in the eyes of many fashionistas who do not tolerate being fooled….
